Shine Group chair-CEO Elisabeth Murdoch will be gala chair for the 36th Intl. Emmy Awards, which will take place on Nov. 24 in New York.

Bruce L. Paisner, prexy and CEO of the Intl. Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, made the announcement Tuesday.

Founded by Murdoch in 2001, the Shine Group, which includes Shine, Reveille, Princess Prods., Firefly and Kudos, spans both British and American marketplaces.

Its shows include "Life on Mars," "Ugly Betty," "The Office," "The Tudors" and "American Gladiators."

The Academy will present two special awards at this year's Intl. Emmycast.

Dick Wolf, creator of the "Law & Order" franchise, will receive the Founders Award in recognition of his creative accomplishments for the past 25 years.

The Directorate Award will go to Liu Changle, chairman-CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television, for launching and growing Phoenix into a multimedia empire with five TV channels broadcasting in Mandarin Chinese in 150 countries.

The 2008 Intl. Emmy nominees in 15 categories will be announced at a news conference at Mipcom in Cannes on Oct. 13.
